My name is Annette Tawanya Hamman, a 21-year-old currently studying Economics at Portland State University.  If I had to pick one word to describe myself, it would most certainly be "diverse". From a young age, I was exposed to diversity. From the dynamics of my family, the community I grew up in, even to the different activities I engaged in, everything differed. 

 

I grew up in the West African country of Nigeria, a country with rich history and beautiful people. A country that has molded me into who I am, equipping me with attributes such as adaptability, which has enabled me to maneuver seamlessly in the new environments I often times find myself in. My diverse up-bringing and experiences have also equipped me with the ability to interact immaculately with new individuals I come across.
